The purpose of this webinar is to provide an overview of patient empowerment approaches in the context of Diabetes and Chronic Kidney Disease care.  Participants will understand what contributes to low self-efficacy in patients managing multiple chronic health conditions. Additionally, this webinar will present ways to build self-efficacy in patients by introducing self-compassion approaches as well as introduce participants to values-based choices that can improve the management of Diabetes and CKD.

During this webinar you will learn how to:

  1. Define the Patient Empowerment Model for Diabetes
  2. Define self-compassion
  3. Understand how a values-based life can improve the management of Diabetes and CKD

Stacy Ogbeide, PsyD, MS, ABPP is a Board-Certified Clinical Health Psychologist and a Board-Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management. She is the Director of Behavioral Health Education in the Family Medicine Residency and an Associate Professor with the Department of Family & Community Medicine with UT Health San Antonio. She also has a cross appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and serves as the Primary Care Track Coordinator for the Psychology Internship Program.
